Volunteers are a crucial component to the success of the Network. Volunteers essentially run the Network from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. the following morning, as well as provide hosting throughout the weekend. Volunteers are only required to attend one training session. Volunteers can choose when and how they would like to volunteer their time with Family Promise.  

The following volunteer opportunities are always available:

Congregation Coordinator - Volunteer coordinators oversee the host week scheduling and coordinate with volunteers and other Coordinators to complete the host week schedule. They also serve as a liaison to the Network Director.

Assistant Coordinator - Volunteers assist the Coordinator with one specific area (driving, meals, supplies, etc. ) when completing the host week schedule.

Van Driver - Volunteers drive the van in the morning and evening to and from the Family C enter and the host congregations.

Dinner Host- Volunteers provide dinner for up to fourteen individuals at the host congregation. Volunteers are encouraged to prepare a nutritionally-balanced and simple mea.

Evening Host - Volunteer spend time with guests during dinner and after dinner while at the host congregation.

Overnight Host - Volunteers arrive at the host congregation between 8:30 and 9:00 p.m. to sleep overnight at the host congregation. A bed is provided. Volunteers are asked to bring their own linens.

Activities Host - Volunteer intermittently plan and implement activities outside of the regular guest schedule. Activiites can be offered to guests; however, guests are not obligated to engage in the activities.

Family Center Host - Voluntter spend time at the Family Center during the day to provide support, specialty skills, and.or just act as a person-in-charge in the Network Director's absence.

Set-up/Take-down - Volunteers spend time on Sundays, the host congregation switch day, to set-up or take-down rooms.

Donations - Volunteers coordinate and/or collect donations for the Family Center or congregations, especially breakfast and lunch supplies for host weeks.

not a hand-out!
